Oh yeah, those books are huge. I think there are about four in the S n B series now. Also a line of yarn put out by Red Heart/Coats & Clark. I haven't had a chance to try the yarn yet but I want to sooo bad.

Ive tried a few times to teach myself how to knit and I cant do it! I was home schooled so ive been doing crochet since I could hold a needle I make tons of scarves and im half way through my very first afghan. I had an accident about 5 years ago and lost feeling/ partial use on my dominant hand so ive slowed down a little bit but heres a photo of my afghan its 54 inchs squared right now the big picture is it spread across my queen bed with a ruler for size beside it and the close up is colors

That's a beautiful stitch pattern, it looks super cozy. Is it finished or are you planning to make it bigger?

That's the beauty of crochet, you can switch if you need to. My mom is left handed so she had a hard time teaching me to crochet. And granny squares are the best. You just can't beat 'em for versatility and simplicity.

and ease of making! if you make a bunch of granny squares out of scrap you can sew em together in a big blanket or have alotta pot holders! the best thing about making afghans is covering up with them while you work

I'm making a neck warmer right now and it's fun knitting up. I love the colors I picked. I'm making it as a gift, but I may just keep it for myself.

I recently ordered a lot of 18 sets of 10" straight bamboo needles. I have a few 14" aluminum and I despise them. They are too long and I just don't like them. I don't normally use straight needles, but I have a few projects to do and straight needles will be idle. Plus, the shorter ones will fit in my needle roll better!
