Nat, my brother was an art student who majored in furniture design. By the end of his senior year, he basically slept in his studio. When he slept. When he would come for Christmas, he would promptly get sick just because all the stress of school woudl catch up to him. International Studies sounds really fascinating and a lot less stressful.

That Tea Ceremony class sounds awesome! I'm jealous.

Art students are crazy. In more ways than one.

I just got my huge set of bamboo 10" straight needles today! I'm looking forward to making scrubbies now.

Awesome! I love bamboo needles. Knitting in the round became a whole lot easier with them. With metal needles, they kept dropping out on me. Knit, knit, drop, curse, reinsert, knit, drop, reinsert, curse some more, kn-crud!, reinsert, curse, etc., etc.

In other news, I just finished the sleep sack. I need to block it first before pics. And I want to do the matching hat. I love cabling. So neat <3

For lace knitting, I love metal because of the sharp points but give me bamboo for anything else. Has anyone used the KnitPicks Harmony wood needles? So far all I've used are their nickel ones and the the Zephyr plastic needles. I liked both the nickel and the plastic so I'm thinking of trying the wood ones.

does anyone have problems with yarn fuzz coming off while knitting? .. @_@ i noticed some flew into yuki's tank while i was knitting and fished out all the strands i found on the surface of his tank .. but is there any way to like prevent those fibers from getting loose and floating around

What kind of yarn is it? I know wool yarns, some cotton and some bamboo/exotic fiber yarns and of course mohair all pill or shed. In theory, dampening the yarn as you work with it could help keep the fibers tamed down. Like use a spray bottle to mist the working end as you pull it from the skein/ball. Using one of those yarn containers that you put the yarn in with the end coming out of a hole in the top might work too.
