Im so sorry....I know how you feel. My 47 year old science teacher was found dead in his house yesterday. Just found out a few hours ago.

Just remember all the happy times. Dont cry because it is over, smile because it happened.

No but several of my friends do.

VERY high energy, need a job to do. Great for agility, herding (of course), and even recreational mushing. Pretty biddable, usually good with other dogs and animals in the house but have an extremely high prey drive so you have to be careful with them around smaller animals.

Need weekly grooming, brushing out, etc. Light clipping.

As far as I know they are pretty healthy but do have a couple genetic issues that need to be tested for by whatever breeding you are looking at.

This is Emmy. She is a Doberman Mix.

When she was 6 mos old she was rescued by the foster of a Doberman Rescue. She was taken out of a backyard where there was another dog and the owners decided to feed and water them whenever they felt like it. When I was looking at dogs through their rescue I wanted a puppy and the last puppy who was a Doberman/Rottweiler Mix (my 1st dog was that breed so I wanted it) was already pending adoption. Emmy was the last "puppy" but by now she was 1 yr. old.... I really didn't want her but I went and looked at her and took her home anyways.

And I guess what happened happened for a reason, because she quickly became my best friend and is seriously my soulmate. She and I are seriously like one. I have had her for 8 yrs and she is now 9 yrs old :) I say that our song is "Accidently in Love" by the Counting Crows because of how we came together. It was fate :)

Here is Princess Emmy (she was named after the Emmy Awards by the rescue):

And here she is with me (I posted this pic on another thread on here):

And here she is when she was a few years younger on a hike:

i always wondered if it was hard for dogs to walk in shoes .. since don't dogs use their paw pads to grip and run and stuff ?

and how does those shoes stay on ? ^_^ it's soo cute when she's got them on .. hehe =)

those little booties are wrapped around her feet with velcro to secure them tight around the paw. I find it easiest for them to stay on if they are pulled up as much as possible and the velcro is as a tight as possible around her "ankle" I bought them because if she runs a lot on the trail she tears her pads, but once she got useed to them on her feet she hiked well with them on. They even Have ones for dogs with a sole made of rubber kinda like a shoe on the bottom of them for dogs. For horses too! :)
