Oscar fish tank size?!

Ok - a non betta question. I know very little about other type of fish and their tank needs but I assume that a fish this size would need a MUCH larger tank than this one is in?! This was posted by a friend of mine on facebook - who I actually went to high school with so I'm not sure if I would feel comfortable correcting her or not... I think I might have to just hide her. I've thought about hiding her before (major over-poster!) and this just makes me mad!! Poor Oscar!
I googled Oscar tank size and the majority of people were saying minimum 55 gal but 75 would be better.
This tank looks no bigger than a 20 gal but I'm not great at judging. Just went with how much room the fish was taking up in the tank!

Neutral factual is always good.

Something like this after the reply, "For Oscar's, it is highly recommended that they are kept in a minimum of 55-75 gallons. Anything smaller is considered cruel and impractical for their survival needs"

Your not telling her what to do, just factual statement about an Oscar :)

A minimum of 55 but, it would have to be bare bones. No decorations or anything on that order. Any sort of decorations 75 and up.

I'd say you need 75 gallons. 55 isn't even a minimum to me. It's still way too small. 75 is the bare minimum in my opinion.

A 55 is 4 ft long and 2 ft high if I'm right. I would rather see an Oscar set up bare bones in a 55 over one that its sitting in right now. I have even had Oscar people say a 55 would wotk but, would have to be bare bomes.

Even without decor, it's still 20 gallons LESS than their needed size. That's a huge amount of space!
