if ur still on Baha (OMygawd blast from the past...i played this game with a guy whos Username was Bahamut....and i always called him Baha.)

any whooo...
its rates of change and linear equations....

Wright the equation of the line with the following characteristics:
m=-2 passing through the point (-4,5)

m=1/2 passing through the point (0,-6)

m=2/3 passing through the point (6,-9)

Passing through the points (4,-1) and (0,3)

Passing through the points (-1,5) and (3,9)

Passing through the points (-6,2) and (1,-2)

Passing through the points (-2,2) and (6,-2)

Betta-less at the moment :(

LOL Feel free to call me Baha, I don't mind. A lot of people call me that as well.

Okay so since they are linear equations, you already know it is y = mx + b, where b is the point at which the line crosses the y axis.

so for the first question, you are given: m (-2), x (-4), and y (5) so you just plug it in and solve for B

5 = -2(-4) + b (plug it in)
5 = 8 + b (multiply -2 and -4)
5 - 8 = b (move 8 over to the other side, don't forget that it changes sign to -8)
-3 = b

So therefore this equation is: y = -2x - 3

Do the same procedure for the next two!

For the 2nd set of equations... You know TWO y values and TWO x values. You solve for m (slope) which is (y2-y1)/(x2-x1). Then, you solve for b by using the method I taught you above.

So for the first one is:

m = (3 - (-1)/(0-4)
m = (3+1)/(-4)
m = 4/-4
m = -1

SO now you have y = -1x + b

Plug in ANY of the points given to you, either (4,-1) or (0,3) and solve for b.

Use BOTH points given to check your answer.

Using (4,-1)
-1 = -1(4) + b
-1 = -4 + b
-1 + 4 = b
3 = b

Therefore: y = -1x + 3

Using (0,3)
3 = -1(0) + b
3 = 0 + b
3 = b

Therefore: y = -1x + 3

Follow this example to solve for the rest of your homework :)

I'll be back online in about 3 hours from now to check if you have any more questions. I have a chem lab to attend (3 HOURS OF TORTURE, YAY)

If you want to post your answers for me to check, post your work as well, so it will be easier for me to correct :)

@Diablo: I studied math until 2nd year university? I learned this stuff a long time ago, haha. My "A" game is solving for numerous variables in quadratic functions.

What grade math is this anyway? I don't remember
