Butterfly Koi

Hi everyone, I just had to take my butterfly koi out of my pond as it's getting too cold for him. Do you know of a source to sell koi. I believe this one is a male and is approx a foot long. Beautiful orange and black color, very lively fish, but I have no aquariums large enough that have compatible fish.

I hate to sell him at my LPS but need to find a home for him.

Thanks for any input,
Karen

You could advertise him on craiglist to see if there are any koi hobbyists around your area who would want him who have a heated pond! :D

why not just get a pond heater? that way you don't have to get rid of him

I was gonna say get a heater as well, but I guess it depends on where you live. I doubt a heater where i live would make a difference since it gets to -60F

they have those de-icer heaters too .. those one's that float on top of the ponds and heats and prevents the pond from freezing on top .. that used with those underwater heaters the one's that are built into the pond filter pumps .. and it should be good for winter

I always see koi on craigslist in the farm and pet section. In fact I have actually sold koi there myself that I had in an indoor tank. They sold pretty quick too.
