I think they were probably sick to begin with. I'm so sorry.

Oh, i'm so sorry! I honeslt don't have any idea why they all died. Its sort of unlikely that they all die within that amount of time, and die so suddently, all together. Possible, but not likely.

I'd say give it another go. You did everything right!

If they came from the same tank at the petstore they all could have had the same thing wrong with them.

They didn't. She told me so. I also think she has had them for quite some time? I mean, it could have attacked the fish all at once, whatever it was, but its just so weird they died so suddenly, no deterioration, and almost all together.

They came from different places, we had had them for well over a year...

They seemed fine at first. But.. Could parasites or illnesses attack and kill in times of stress? If they had been carrying parasites or something, could the stress of the move and settling in have just been too much? :(

I'm really sorry to hear about your loss, Purplemuffin. I actually lost the first 2 koi I added to my pond. I put them in there and never saw them again, but somehow I think finding them dead is much worse.

Pond fish are much more difficult than aquarium fish because they aren't as easily observed. It is really hard to say what went wrong with them. Since very few diseases kill that quickly I'm going to guess it was just pure stress. How long was the pond going before you added the fish?

I am very sorry. I know how you feel. Do you still have the ryukin or was he in the pond, too? If you still have that little guy he would be happy in a 29 gal with another ryukin buddy.

:( Yeah, it's not fun..especially finding such big, beautiful fish. Each one was over a foot long..sigh....

We had their next temporary pond set up for several weeks before even getting ready to move them. It was a long drive, I've been reading more and more how just pure stress can kill them. ;_; suffice it to say, i can't handle moving fish anymore. Unless we knew we were in a house to stay.. I'm not going to get any new pond fish. It's too scary...

Ryukin died as well, he was the second to go. I miss my little bubbly butt fish ;_;

Mom wants to get me fancy goldfish for christmas since I'm just having such bad luck in fish keeping (now I have no fish..) to kind of 'start over'

It's a tough decision... I dunno. Part of me is too sad, I just don't want to try again. But part of me does want to have all the sweet little fishes to watch as they wiggle.

I don't know. Nathan's offered his extra 55 gallon if I do want more someday.

blah. So depressing.

Purplemuffin, give yourself some time. Maybe in a couple of weeks you'll feel better about things.
