Bananama Jack is gone.

My gorgeous avatar, Bananama Jack, passed away this morning. I bought him (and Flake, a recently deceased HM female) from a breeder on Feb. 1. In mid-march, I attempeted a spawn with him and another imported yellow HM, Glow (who is fine as of this post). The spawn failed; Jack had 3 live fry one day, and the next, no sign of life. Both Jack & Glow sustained fin damage. I split a 10 gallon tank for my two boys. Butch, my EE PK, loves it. Jack did at first, but over the past week, he started to become lethargic. I added plants, did water changes, but he became more sulky & draped himself over whatever decor there was. Today he is simply gone.

4 bettas: Butch, 3-year-old violet male PK EE & 3 girls in a 30 gal sorority. I do not name the girls anymore! 1/2 of them die within a month.
30 gal: 9 Oto cats, 4 Ocellifer cats. Inverts: Cherry shrimp & 2 assasin snails.
10 gal.: Butch, his 5 oto cats, 3 assasin snails, and a few snails the assassins haven't caught.

I was really hoping to breed some nice yellow HMs from him. His form wasn't perfect, but he had a great iridescent blue glow. Now I have to be worried for Butch, who was sharing a tank w/ a sick fish. I just wish we had a way to determine causes of fish death (besides a $600 lab test).
