A Tribute to Spartan

Oh Spartan, I'll never forget you. You and your girlfriend pearl were my very first imports. The thought of sending bettas in the mail terrified me but I could not resist you. Sure enough you arrived alive, healthy and full of energy and attitude. You were the beginning of many more imports to come...........

A couple of days ago Spartan stopped eating and desperate to find what was wrong I kept studying him with a torch and all but I could find nothing. Then suddenly last night I noticed fluid build up on your gill cover and the beginning stages of pop-eye. Up with sunrise this morning I set up a nice warm hospital tank for you and began to medicate but after an hour you passed. If only I had more time to try to save you. I cannot help but feel I failed him though he passed so quickly I hardly got the chance to try.......

Poor boy I have no idea why you became unwell, your tank was always kept clean and warm and you were fed the best of foods...........

I will miss you my friend.

thanks MattsBettas... I hate it when this sort of thing happens but it is a part of keeping fish unfortunately...........I think the worst thing when this happens is not knowing what caused it.

Sorry for your loss, sometimes things are out of our control, even when you do know what's wrong and treat them it doesn't always turn out they way we want it too.

Thanks guys, it was just such a shock because one minute he was fine and the next he was gone...... I hate losing them young, if they are older I find it easier to accept.
