Lost both of my rescues, one last night (Frank) and Cas this morning. I knew Cas was going to die sooner than the others, because he was a poor swimmer and would often get stuck in his plant, but what killed me this morning was that he had built a bubble nest, as if firmly stating "hey, I'm a guy" before he passed. He was on his favorite leaf, facing the nest.
Frankie died last night. He was acting lethargic and I knew he was also going to die because nothing I tried worked. In the end, I just gave him special attention and gave him a soaked freeze-dried bloodworm in with his normal feeding.
I bought both of these because they were damaged. Frankie's fins were torn up and he was floating on his side. Cas clearly couldn't swim very well, even after he got over his bloating. But I'm glad I snatched them up when I did...whether they were four bucks or sixteen, they were still my little rescues..and I'll miss having to turn on the light at night because Frankie stressed in the dark...
