So would those mini-vertical stripes be a good early indicator?

Of that fish's gender?

Trying to find as many indicators to ID mine.

Mother is on the left, munchkin on the right.

That's a good question. Except some of the darkest ones I have have it too... Plus I have seen some males (adult) get it - though more visually on dark bodies than the light ones.

Ventrals: all are the same size to me xD in comparison to the same sized fry.

But if the stripes were a sign 50% jarred would be females (and mean ones a that) ill try getting a pic of a bully I pulled two days ago. Has some regrowth of the anal fin, but has the longest fins so far out of these fellas.

So, my plan is going to be labelling each jar, and that way if anyone wants me to hold one for January (I will follow up with you on that said hold, when the time comes) they can.

Anyways, here are some more pictures. The first one, is the one with the white re-growth. The second is a metallic, with the orange/red fins. Third is the same, and fourth has specks of blue on the body with red fins.

Sorry for the not so clear pictures, the fish do not like to hold still xD

A lil blurry, but he was sold to me as a she. I thought the colours were just gorgeous. Hes not a fan of me having even the regular lights on. I think he's got a bit of vampirism going on >.> The second day I had him he nested over half of his QT tank, and the ventrals... the ventrals grew and grew and grew.

I've never seen the males display those vertical stripes/bars

I've seen males go from bright red - to brown/grey once they submit to a more dominant Betta.

Totally hoping that would be a good sign of gender.

The back of a business card is a good way to label the jars and them them somewhat organized. The ones that displayed the stripes you can put a "III" type mark on it.

See if it makes a difference later on.

The 2nd & 3rd photo came out really good.

Your jarred one makes me wish I had some scaled bettas.

My firefox orange babies are about 7-8 days older than yours.

I miss orange </3 but I will say I like bringing dragonscale into a line because it brings a nice sheen, or metallic base on the fry :) the business card idea is a nice one. I also have 10000000 small sticky notes haha. Those may work too
