Oooo, speedy plants are being speedy now, are they? Lol!

"The time has come," the Walrus said, "to talk of many things: of shoes—and ships—and sealing wax—of cabbages—and kings—and why the sea is boiling hot—and whether pigs have wings."

"But wait a bit," the Oysters cried, "before we have our chat; for some of us are out of breath, and all of us are fat!"
"No hurry!" said the Carpenter.
They thanked him much for that.

Yes! Which is exactly what I want! This tank is for my new baby "giant" and I somewhat fear ammonia spikes due to his potential, eventual size. Having a couple of fast growers will hopefully help. Plus I'd love to do shrimps in the tank & they will need hidey holes.

Yup, wanting to put some shrimp in my 10 gal is what lead me to be looking for some java moss to begin with.

I ordered my first ever "batch" of Red Cherry Shrimps from a guy on eBay and they ALL arrived dead. I was appalled and horrified. He packed them in a small water bottle, with no heat pack and we're still getting freezing temps here.

Sigh. Some folks amaze me.

Eek! I've actually got local pet stores that carry cherry shrimp, but they want 3x as much for them as they are including shipping from a lot of places online :-/

Either way, I'm giving shrimp a test run with a handful of cheap ghost shrimp when the time comes, because as feisty as my new betta is proving himself to be, I'm not at all convinced they won't turn into snacks, lol.

Yeah, I know it's a risk, but I've heard some ...interesting... stories about ghost shrimp, so I'm gonna risk it!

Yeah, I've heard some things too. I figure 5 ghost shrimp & a betta should be well enough able to keep out of each other's hair in a 10 gal. If Smeagol can keep his fat mouth to himself the ghost shrimp are getting deported in favor of cherry shrimp. And by deported I mean given to my friend to "live with" his turtle.

Pffft, now I just want to know what you had said. I'm much to curious for my own good.

Lol, just that you need permits to ship between Canada and the states.
and that moss grows very slowly. Also that fissidens can be a somewhat finicky plant that needs medium lighting ^^
