Smile Another newbie! :)

So, I'm another newbie! Mommy to my Alex (my male betta), and I'm planning on getting a female on Monday, along with a lot more tank decor and plants! My wonderful mom got me my first ever fish (male betta) yesterday for my birthday, but only got one plant and a filter along with the tank, food, and water treatment, so I'm needing to go shopping!! lol I am so glad I found this forum, because it's helping me out a LOT! :)

Hello and welcome to the forum! :) Yet another strike of the Betta Bug... Great! :D

Over hundreds of bettas die in their small, dirty cups each day. Only you can help them live. Research and then save them, today!

Hello and welcome to the forum Beware - bettas are addicting as a lot of us can attest to :)

Animal testing is a terrible idea; they get all nervous and give the wrong answers.

I know it! I just realized... I've been looking at Betta fish information, tank decoration ideas, etc. off and on all day, and planning for future betta babies that I don't even have yet!! LOL I'm so excited because I was looking around on Google to find a pet shop in my area that is better than just a normal "PetSmart" type of store, and I found one about 5 minutes from where I work! According to Google maps, I must have passed it several times and didn't even realize what it was!! lol Anyway, I will be paying them a visit Monday after work to get a female betta and some tank decor and plants!!

welcome to the forum! Pleas keep in mind bettas are solitary fish, need atleast 3 gallons to themselves, and a heater is a MUST :) The water needs to be at at least 80 degrees constantly. Males and females should never be together bless for breeding purposes, which requires a massive amount of skill, equipment, practice, patience......the list goes on..and sometimes even requires a lot of money..

If you aren't experienced with betta keeping, please don't even think of breeding. If you don't condition the bettas before spawning, the male can actually kill the female. Also, petstore bettas are usually never suited for breeding, and you would most likely have to buy them form a breeder, which can cost you some bucks.

Be careful bettas are addicting!

GOOD LUCK, AND CANT WAIT TO SEE PICS!
