Smile Just joined this site today...

I got this 4 gallon kit (my avatar) for my kids for Christmas and getting a betta this weekend. This has rekindled a long lost love of fish keeping from my childhood. I have done extensive research on proper betta care and tropical fish in general but still have much to learn. The 4 gallon filtered, aerated, planted , heated tank has been cycling for 6 weeks now with 2 ghost shrimp so I think it's ready for a lucky betta. I'll keep ya'll posted how it goes.

4 gallon SpongeBob kit turned into a full time hobby.

Hello

Welcome to the forum. It's nice to see that you're getting your feet "wet" again. Good luck.

Animal testing is a terrible idea; they get all nervous and give the wrong answers.

HAA! The same thing happened to me, at least you have the kids to blame it on when you find yourself with a tank in every room

Hi and welcome!!
It's really great that you cycled the tank before the getting a fish- I'm a totally impatient impulse buyer. I could never wait for it to cycle lol
The aeration stone, does it ripple the surface of the water? An aeration stone is totally unnecessary for bettas since they have the labrynth organ and breath surface air. Some bettas enjoy the bubbles, others don't. But you certainly do not need it.

Meet Patrick!

Got this male CT today. He seemed exhausted after acclimation and exploration. He did eat a couple blood worms though. Got him a blue mystery snail as a pet named Gary.
