Starting from Scratch

Hi everyone,

Great forum here! I am getting back into fishkeeping after several years, and I really just have to have a betta again.

Last time, my Petsmart betta made it two years and a bit, without me knowing anything about what I was doing. This time, I really want to focus on making a fantastic environment for a rescued or rehomed fish.

To that end, I will be creeping all over the Planted Tank area. I live in Southeast Florida, and we have a wonderful freshwater aquarium store about an hour south of me. Not an everyday drop by, but worth the drive.

Thanks to everyone who ever contributes here. I have been reading everything obsessively, and look forward to being able to make some contributions of my own someday.

Hello and welcome to the forum

You'll find everything you need to know about how to care for your new betta friend here. And you'll make some new friends of your own.

Animal testing is a terrible idea; they get all nervous and give the wrong answers.

Welcome, nice to meet you! You've come to the right place! Lots of people on here who are quite knowledgeable about bettas! My betta is a male blue veil tail named Mojo! (see my avatar) Hope you enjoy the forums as much as I do! :D

Rest in peace little Pizza. You were a true miracle who is dearly missed and will be forever loved by all who knew you. 2 years 10 months of love, life, and weirdness with the fish who just kept on living!

Mojo is adorable! Beautiful color.

I an currently running down a craigslist ad for a ten gallon full set up (including heater! Yay!), so I already have violated my 5 gallons max rule.

Sigh. So addictive.

Welcome! It's great that you have that tank. Good luck!
