Hello! Research phaze has officially begun

I'm afraid to say I have kept Betta fish in some terrible conditions before, because of bad info from the pet store. Its wonderful to have so many resources on the internet these days so these lovely animals can be cared for properly.
Anyhoo, I've set up a 5 gal with some live plants and am now in research mode. If anybody has opinions on where is a good place to get Bettas, let me know. I have a good LFS but they pretty much only have blue or red. I was hoping for something more... exotic!
So I look forward to learning as much as I can about these amazing creatures.

Hello and welcome to the forum. :D

Don't feel bad, we all start somewhere. It's great you have a nice tank for your future fish.

No Petsmart or Petco? You could try to rescue there, if you want. Petco IME seem to have the best looking fish. There is also Aquabid online.

Over hundreds of bettas die in their small, dirty cups each day. Only you can help them live. Research and then save them, today!

Welcome to the forum! I'd recommend trying a local PetSmart or Petco if you have one near you. Not all of them are bad, and they tend to get some more interesting fish, but you never know, you may want to look at those red and blues at your LFS since one might just catch your eye anyway.
