Just saying hello!

I'm a new member here because I have a new pet named Umi. I am a first time fish owner and actually never intended to be one. It was an impulse purchase because I felt sorry for him but he's a charmer and now I'm head over heels crazy for this little guy. I've quickly learned that there is far more to caring for fish than most people (myself included) realize.

I am hoping to get advice here on how to keep my Betta happy and healthy. Umi is blue and turquoise like the sea. He's playful and curious and I'm convinced he has a sense of humour. He's very frisky and flirty unless there is even so much as a drop of ammonia in his tank -- then he gets quiet and sad. He blows bubbles when I talk to him and I think he has a crush on me. We had a bit of a rough start due to my lack of fish knowledge but I do want to take good care of him. I posted my concerns about his fins earlier today under Betta diseases but not sure if I posted in the right place. If you're reading this please take a look for my post if you think you might be able to provide some feedback. Thanks!

Hello and welcome to the forum

Animal testing is a terrible idea; they get all nervous and give the wrong answers.
