New to the Betta World :)

Hi! I'm Niki, and my family is the proud new owner of two bettas! We received an Aquafarm for Christmas from my parents, and my daughters were so excited! They are 6 years old and 10 years old. We went to Petco to pick out our new betta, and my oldest daughter decided that she wanted to spend her Christmas money on a 20gal tank for her room. So now we have two! Their names are Gilly and Squishy and they are such pretty boys! I have been doing a lot of reading on here on how to care for these guys since it has been a while since I had an aquarium and I had never had bettas before. This place is such a great resource! Here are a couple pics. Gilly is the all red one, and is in the Aquafarm he is camera shy and more reserved than Squishy. Squishy has a 20gal tank all to himself atm, and is a very happy fish :) I keeping a close eye on the Aquafarm, 50% water changes every other day, and 100% 1x a week and added a heater. I have a feeling that it's going to lose its novelty in a few weeks and I'll be getting a bigger tank for Gilly.

Gilly

Squishy

Hi, and welcome -- gosh, what lovely fish! Gilly's rather special, imo.. I have a doubletail, too, a cello marble.. but I must say, the reds are so pretty! (I'm a huge fan of red fish..).

Bettas are so addictive, ha. Looking forward to your posts, glad you found this site such a good resource, it really has been incredibly useful to me. And the people are so nice! :)

Thanks for the welcome :) These fish are so cool, I've really been enjoying them. I can totally see how they become addictive. I already want to bring home more!

Welcome to the forum, and I'm glad you've found it to be a great resource! It certainly helped me when I bought Merlin.

No, one is never enough! I agree completely!

Welcome!
Now I have to ask...is that a pineapple under the sea?!? Awesome!
Your fish are beautiful and I totally agree that this place is such an abundance of knowledge! The members here could write books on betta care!

Hello and welcome to the forum.

Waves fins at Gilly, Squishy, and Niki

Animal testing is a terrible idea; they get all nervous and give the wrong answers.
