Greetings All!

Hello all! Pretty much a newbie into the care of Siamese Fighters (which I have since learnt, are called Bettas.)

I have a mustard gas (Veiltail I think?) betta named Dobe who has me a little panicky at the moment due to his lethargy, despite levels and cycle being fine. I only got him yesterday, pet store in town set up the tank with plants and water. Hopefully it'll all be okay. Thought I should make myself known and learn a little more about Bettas.

Here is a happy-snap of Dobe. He enjoys hiding from me and my camera.

Hello!! I was a newbie too a week ago. The shin and complexion of his scale and fins make him look healthy. You need not worry about lethargy if your betta is just trying to adapt to a new environment. I would recommend a properly furnished tank as his home, like natural aquatic plants, smooth pebbles, synthetic plants (avoid sharp points and edges) and many more (not including metal).

Welcome to the forum and best of luck taking care of your fish. =)

Hello and welcome to you and Dobe

He's a real beauty!!

Give him a few more days to settle down and get used to his new environment and he should be fine. Some fish take a bit longer to adapt to new surroundings.

Do you have a heater in the tank?

Animal testing is a terrible idea; they get all nervous and give the wrong answers.
