I am sad to say...

That little Ro passed away on Friday :( My little baby held on for so long, but when she started showing symptoms of that same disease AGAIN that day, I just had a feeling she wasn't going to last. I graduated from college on Friday and spent almost the entire day at the school, but when I got back, she was already gone (great graduation gift :< ).

I am now goldfishless, but I at least hope I gave them the best care that I could and a better home than they would have had in a tiny bowl (or on the lawn where they were going to be tossed).

Because I invested so much time and money into saving these guys, I still want to keep goldfish and the tanks I have. It was really a wonderful experience. Because my parents won't allow me to set up the 55 gallon tank I had got for Fus and Ro (and Dah), I won't be getting goldfish until I am able to move out (hopefully soon). At least now, I'll be able to properly cycle the tank before housing any fish. With that said, I am throwing out the filter cartridge I was attempting to cycle just to make sure my future tank is completely rid of this horrible disease these poor guys had.

I really want to keep Pearlscale goldies, but I'm not sure if I could even keep them alive if I couldn't keep my little comets alive </3

I would really like to thank Izzy (Koimaiden) and everyone else who really educated me on the proper care of goldfish - without you guys, they wouldn't have made it as far as they did. That thread I had has so much useful information in it - I'll be bookmarking it for future reference.

Oh, poor little Ro! She held on for so long. :( I'm sure she had a much better life with you than she could otherwise have looked forwards to. *hugs*

D: I'm so sorry to hear that, Kelsey! You fought so hard for her. *hugs* She had a much better life with you than most other people would have given her. I'm glad to hear that you haven't given up on goldfish. They really are wonderfully rewarding little (ha!) fish to keep. Your 55 gal would be perfect for a trio of pearscales.

Memories are always better once the pain goes away. Losing a fish is never easy as is losing a friend/family in our world.

I spent almost a month nursing literally every day an old and sick African Cichlid I had in my 180g tank. Was living in luxury in a 75g tank all by herself. The day she passed, she was eating out my hand, she looked fine and was about to put her back in the tank.
She swam up to the top of the tank, had a nibble on a few flakes, slowly literally went straight down to the bottom and then just passed on.
Her character though is something that I will never forget, she gave me hours of pleasure watching her and bonding with her in her final month.

She was the first fish I got and I have never looked back on keeping Cichlids since - that was 12 years ago and about 15 different stocked tanks later!

Dont give up because you had a fish pass on, you did all you could for her. There is a fish out there with your name on it! Find it, acclimate it, make sure it is going to be happy in your tank and love it like you loved this one

Sorry for your loss.

10g Fry / Hospital / QT tank (as needed)

75g Saltwater Reef, Ocellaris Clownfish, Lyretail Antias (baby), Lemon damsel, Longtail Fairy Wrasse, purple dottyback, snails, crabs and a few LPS corals.

220g Still sitting empty (come on Lottery I need the numbers to come up!)

Awwwww........ so sorry to hear about Ro :( You did the best you could so give yourself a pat on the back for caring.

Animal testing is a terrible idea; they get all nervous and give the wrong answers.

I'm so sorry about Ro. :*( She had a much better life with you, some one who cared about her, and not thrown into a half gallon bowl with un-conditioned tap water.

Many of my scaly friends from my original tank from 2011 have passed, except for two! I am in the process of re-doing my tank. :)
