Shoaling Corys

Will different species of corycats shoal? Say albinos with peppered or spotfin corys?

My LFS says they do. I have seen different types there hanging together.

In my experience no - I kept 3 species together in a 90 and they did not. In a small tank it can look like they are, but that's likely just a matter of not having enough space for each to do their own thing.

125 - BGK, chanchito cichlid, pictus cats, silver dollars, palmas bichir
125 - cichlids (severums, bolivian rams, chocolate), rainbows ( turquoise, red), loaches (angelicus, zebra, kuhli and horseface), plecos (BN, RL and clown), denison barbs, tiretrack eel, pearl gouramis, betta
90 - Congo tetras, african knife, upside down cats, spotted ctenopoma, kribensis, delhezzi bichir
2.5 - betta

I have found that they will, but only if they are the only member of each species. When I had three cories given to me, the two aenaus would school together and the peppered was lonely. Then one of the aenaeus died and the remaining one hung out with the peppered. Now I have three peppered, and poor bronzey Heydon J is just a reject. :p

Mine do.... sometimes.

I had two Julliis and four albinos (A jullii died while under the care of someone else during vacation.)

When I had the two Julliis, they would school together and the albinos would school, and sometimes would mix if there was one albino that wasn't with the other group.

Now the one julii only occasionally hangs out with the albinos when he isn't hiding somewhere.

The lady at petsmart told me they would school, but they only sometimes do. I would suggest you get all the same, as in the end they'll be more active and happy. But ultimately it's your choice.
