Inverts Have Clocks

I have Red Cherry Shrimp, Dwarf Orange Crayfish and Thai Micro Crabs in Si the Betta's tank. The tank in on my end table so I get to watch them pretty closely.

I feed Si around noon and again at 6:00. The inverts I feed between 10 and 11 at night. I always place their food in the front right corner of the tank.

A couple of nights go, I noticed that at about 10:15 there is the mass trek to the area where I feed. Everyone mills around for about an hour and then they all slowly drift away if I refrain from feeding them. When I see them start the exodus, I feed.

Anyhow, I thought it interesting that they seem to have developed an internal clock.

I know the dogs and the cat don't let us forget when it's time for dinner or if we forgot breakfast. Never thought about the inverts doing the same.

What about you guys? Anyone have similar experiences?

I don't have any comparable experiences, I just wanted to tell you that it's pretty cool! Thanks for sharing! I wonder if my RCS would do it too if I had a set feeding time?

I'll bet they would. Mine are all over the tank all day long; usually feeding on the plants. But come 10:15 they drop from the moss and the TMC could out from hiding and feast.

You should try it as an experiment and see what happens.

It would be interesting to see how long it takes them to figure it out. I've been following this schedule for three or four months. I wish I'd paid attention and noticed when it first started.

I'll have to start setting an alarm on my phone, and rearrange Pancake's tank so I can even see them lol

I'll let you know how quickly mine can be trained!

That's so cute. I was on a semi regular time to feed my zoo but the last week or so, i've been feeding them at different times. Will have to get back to the same times and see how they act.
