Fancy Guppy questions

I've searched the web and can't find any sound information about keeping fancy guppies (even on tropicalfishkeeping.com) I figured there must be a knowledgeable aquarist here that could answer a few questions for me :)

I had two bettas in a 20 long, one recently passed. I don't want to get another betta at this time, my two got along perfectly as neighbors, but I have had bettas that were not good neighbors, and were stressed all the time. I don't want to deal with that again so I'm considering putting different fish in the other half. Also I've never kept any other fish, so I'm interested to branch out

I really like fancy guppies, they are like mini bettas almost, very cute. Here's my questions:

1. Can I keep a group of males together like they do in the pet store? How many in a 10 gallon? ( I do NOT want a bunch of baby guppies)

2. Will they nip at my mystery snail? (he is huge, golf ball sized)

3. What do they like décor wise? I currently have plants/hiding spaces for my betta setup, but have read just plants for them?

4.Can I feed them the same food as my bettas?

5. I have read varying things about what they like for water parameters. My PH is a bit high, my bettas have always been fine so I never messed with it, but I am reading they don't like high PH?

Thanks!

1) Yes, you can keep all males. They won't really be aggressive with each other unless a female is present. You could probably keep about 8-10. They don't get very big, and have a low bioload

2) Nope! They might be curious at first, but they won't hurt him

3) They'll enjoy anything you can provide as long as it's in the middle to upper water column. Plants, floating logs, castles; the list goes on!

4) If it can fit in their mouths, they'll eat it. They're not very picky, but they really love foods high in protein (just like bettas), though they also like a little greenery sometimes. You could just use a frozen cube of something like "Emerald Entree" and just cut off little pieces.

5) They're extremely hardy, so as long as your water parameters are within a reasonable range, they'll be just fine.

Hope this helps!

5) PieTime is pretty much spot on. As far as I've read guppies actually prefer harder water (higher pH). I don't know where you found otherwise...

I have endlers (some debate over whether or not they're guppy family) and I read everywhere that they like harder water. But like PT said, it'll be fine as long as it's a good range and particularly if it's stable.

3&4) My endlers love picking at the live plants. They don't seem to use it for hiding, more for some greenery. Helps save on feeding! I'm only going to be feeding them about 3 times a week because they're always picking around the place for plant material and will pick up leftover other food off the ground!
