Looking for suggestions for plants for a 10g with 4 goldfish in it. The tank is what it is and cannot be upgraded, sadly, but I have been doing steller water changes and the fish are doing well. I have taken out the plastic plants and yucky substrate and ready to put some plants in.
If you have a moment, can I get some recommendations? There are a lot of contradictions out there about what plants work best.
To seriously answer your question, planted tanks and goldfish typically don't mix as the goldfish are most likely going to just eat whatever you put in
4 in a 10 gallon....i would not have substrate or any deco.just not enough room.gravel and goldfish do not mix. if you have to have something,do 1/2" of sand.for plants...anubias nana ''petite" attached to a small rock. i recommend rehoming them and getting fish that are appropriate for the tank.celestial pearl danios or chili rasboras and a few dwarf corys.
Thanks Sandy. I know the accommodations are not ideal, but they've had the fish for 5-6 years and they are doing well. I hadn't thought about Anubias might work. Posted via Mobile Device
I agree with Riverotter. It may not be the best situation in the world, but Agility4fun was very specific that this tank stays there. Im just glad someone is taking care of them. Good luck with them
A side note: With a 10gal tank, maybe let whoever's in charge of the tank know that after the goldfish are, uh, spent, then maybe some tetras or platys or something would be a better option next time? I mean, come on, there are lots of nice fish that could do well in that tank. Better than goldfish, at least.
