what type of plant is this

i think its very pretty trouble is it keeps dying and i keep having to buy new ones, so i've giving up on it in my betta tank now and put it in my slightly cooler community tank, this if my last attempt with it,

anyway does anyone know what type of plant this is?

Ohhhh I bought one of those at Petsmart, but took it back once I read the back of it's case. It has to have the tip of the leaves OUT of the water. I don't remember the name, though. Sorry!


If we are made of cells, then a scientist who studies cells is actually a group of cells studying themcells!

It is variegated Dracaena sanderiana or variegated lucky bamboo. Even though its in the lily family it has to be out of the water except for it roots to live.

that explains why it keeps dying, i better see if i can find a way to get the tips of the leaves out of the water.

yeah that looks like it, its not really a aquarium plant then,
oh well i might just put it in a vase instead.

Yeah be careful, at Petsmart on the plant tubes. They either say "aquatic" or "semi-aquatic" I almost bought the semi on accident.

A general rule of thumb: If the plant can support its own weight and stay decidedly upright, it's probably NOT a true aquatic plant.

..I got one of those things too when I got a betta last spring, and had the same problem.

The Boy Feesh: Indigo CT, Lavatail CT, Ghost CT, Chicory HM, Redfish VT, Magic DT
The Girl Feesh: Christmas
