10gal pics and adding plants question

below is a picture of my set up (as promised but late) but i also had a question. i just got my banana plants yesterday. when adding a plant to a planted tank, must a new plants roots be buried in the dirt, or is the sand fine?

because they are new i dont want to move them too much, but a couple roots of one of the bananas(#2 below) have come up from the sand, prolly got hit by a frog his fav spot to hide is near there. should i be planting deeper or will the roots be fine in the sand/floating?

veggies (clockwise) from front left cornor:

some sort of chinese wisteria?, mariomo moss ball, some sort of anubis bunch 1, banana plant 1, mondo grass, some sort of different anubis bunch, banana plant 2, dwarf hair grass.

meat:

my boy Arturo Alffa is in QT, but there are 5 ghost shrimp, 4 CRS (3m, 1 f), 4 trumpet snails, and two ADF (man-lily and Raphael Twain Danger Megatron 3000 the Frog DX aka the frog)

Looks very nice! I'd add maybe another plant that's a little bit taller to add some height to the tank.

Flame - Red and Blue Veiltail Male
Oswald - Blue Halfmoon Male

Banana plants are awesome. You can just let them chill in the tank, or bury the bananas 1/2 way in the sand. DO NOT bury them all the way. When they are nice and happy, they'll shoot leaves up to the surface and create some nice shade and protection for bubble nesting. If you ever decide you want another banana plant, just shove a full-grown leaf (still attached) under the sand, and it will create an entirely new banana plant.

So anyway to answer your question ... yeah, the sand is fine! Roots will find the dirt.

I blame spelling mistakes on my iPad. You should too!

thanks man, i ended up just pushing some of the roots into the sand, so now its kind of half floating.

i added a few more plants, some pennywort, duckweed ( http://i.imgur.com/lCKzWVJ.jpg ) and red ludwigia ( http://i.imgur.com/LnJ6BUJ.jpg )

not a bad idea dude, i have a sword in there that i bought when it was pretty small from petsmart. its still green and the leaves have started to perk up so hopefully it will grow to be nice and big. i've also added a little flourish excel in with my last water change.

i'm looking to get some Phylanthus Fluitans or red rooted floater ( seen here ) in my tank, not only does it have sweet looking flowers but the roots look to get pretty deep, if i can add that height from the top i think it will be a good look.

does anybody have experience with the plant? i've only found it available online.
