Where to put Kyoto plant...

Hello! I got a Kyoto plant today at Petco and I was wondering which tank I should put it in. I have two 2.5 gallon tanks, one tall cylinder 6 gallon tank, and one tall 15 gallon tank. There was four bundles of plant in the package. Thanks!

I just googled it, that's Mondo Grass, put it back in the tube and get your money back. It's not an aquatic plants. A lof of the ones they sell aren't aquatic so beware of the tubes. I've wasted so much money on the tubes from drowning non-aquatic plants.

Thanks for the warning! I think I will send it back. It was only $5... We'll see.

Some people have had success with mondo grass... Personally I threw mine away because it was sucking up so many nutrients and depriving my other plants.

My Kyoto(also from Petco) was doing fine but I kept it in tank only for 2 weeks. After I read that it was not aquatic and I planted it on patio(outside) and it has been couple months since. It is growing well there, so I would be surprised if any other plant from my tank would survive that.
Though I have bamboo(from Petco) in tank for couple months submerged, it is sill alive and has developed new roots. They say it dies isubmerged in tank...

Mondo grass and "lucky bamboo" are bog plants which means they love "wet feet". They can do ok for a while submerged especially the bamboo -- but will eventually start to rot and foul the water. They have this ability to survive submerged for a while since they are found at the sides of streams, creeks, rivers, ect and there are times when the area floods that the plant will be fully submerged.

OP -- I suggest either returning the Kyoto and getting your money back or planting it in a filter to where the roots stay wet and can help filter your tank but is not fully submerged.
