What is the proper way to pot aquatic plants?

I have decided to keep my Swords in pots for now because the ones I have in pots are doing those that are not keep getting root rot when I bury some of the roots. I am keeping some of the crown uncovered.

Anyway the ones I have are still in the wool which I don't figure is good long term. How should I plant them for long term?

I've wondered about this as well. I have a heck of a time getting things like water sprite to STAY PLANTED because they don't seem to root in all that well...and it always just becomes a canopy plant when I clean the tanks seemingly no matter how careful I am while vacuuming. I'd wondered about keeping them potted or even keeping the wool/clamp on them to keep them planted...but, like you, I figured that wool probably wasn't good for them.

I hope someone with some information replies to you! :)

I am thinking about using dirt topped with some flourite. I have some I bought wanting to compare Miracle grow to flourite. I don't like the flourite for a whole AQ however it's supposed to provide iron which I gather Amazon swords like. Maybe use small terra cotta pots to weigh them down along with the dirt and flourites?
