finally back an have a new 10 gallon. lightbulb question

after 6 months of struggling with plants in a 5 gallon tank i upgraded last night. i use to have a 5 gallon tank with the ebay led lights. the led lights didnt work and neither did my replacement set. i finally talked my girlfriend into a 10 gallon so off to that fish place we went to get a new tank. they didnt have the aqueon 10 gallon kits i had been eyeing up for 6 months so we headed to petsmart and we found a tetra 10 gallon kit on clearance that after unboxing it i found out it has a marinelannd hood. it takes the screw in bulbs and i know the ones that came with it are cheap and not good. whats a good screw in type bulb for plants

Something with a daylight spectrum {5500K} would work. Are you doing just low light plants?

Go to a hardware store like lowes and homedepot, they have good prices on bulbs and you're sure to find one that will fit your tank, look for cfls they usually come as 13 watts and can be had in any color spectrum. The ones I'm running now I got from lowes for 6$ for 2

You can get 6500k bulbs at hardware stores A LOT cheaper than you can get them at aquarium stores, you just have to look at the packaging

These are the exact same ones I use, 13 watts, screw in bulbs with 6500K light spectrum that will fit in just about any hood and you get 2 for 7 bucks
*le click*

This is my 10 gal that recently got replanted and is growing quite well with these bulbs

those are 23 watts but if your hood can take that wattage i would get those. when i had the expensive zoomed ones i didnt know i could get them from hardware stores plus my hood said nothing over 15 watts
