Question What do you all think of this idea? Will it work?

Today I purchased myself some Ambulia and thought I would try using it as a surface cover for my tank. I've attached it to the side of my tank using a suction cup and it seems to be covering a good area nicely. Apologies for the glare in the photos...

My tank is low-tech, I fertilize weekly (Flourish) and use a 1.6W LED lamp for extra lighting, the tank gets indirect afternoon sun as well. I don't use co2 as I can't really afford a setup like that. Current plants include Hygrophila, Bacopa and two Cryptocoryne (unsure which type exactly).

What do ya'll think of this set up? Will the Ambulia grow this way?

Nice tank! I don't think you'll have any problems growing ambulia like that. They're pretty easy to grow.

Ambulia grows like a weed. It should be fine. Expect to see it shooting out little rootlets, though - they will quest down towards the soil. It will absolutely lap up the Flourish.

Life.

Roots are OK, I'm just worried that it may block light to my Cryptocoryne...

Ambulia IS a weed haha. I have half my 50g dedicated to my 'ambulia forest' and I love it! It grows soooo quickly, and I have often cut some off and just chucked it in a spare tank where it grows beautifully as a floater (but does get roots shooting off everywhere because it's not oriented). I think it'll do great, but you may need to keep it trimmed for your crypt's sake. Having said that, I don't think crypts need too much light anyway, so it may be fine. Wing it

If for some reason it fails or you get sick of roots, you could probably plant the stuff and let it grow so long it bends over in the water and acts as a floating plant anyway Mine does that a lot haha.

I'm thinking if it doesn't work I'll just plant it in one big bunch at let it do it's thing. I don't mind if it's a weed, they're my kind of plant, just plonk it in and forget!
