Planted in sand substrate

So, I am trying to figgure out if I should get root tabs, or liquid ferts in a sand substrate. The sand is CaribSea Super Naturals, if that matters. It's pretty fine.
The plants are amazon sword, crypt wendii, dwarf hairgrass, and moneywort for now, although I plan on getting more.
I can't seem to find anything about how ferts work with sand, just gravel, so maybe it doesn't matter?
I just know most of the waste to provide "food" mostly just stays on the top, so I am afraid root tabs won't spread since they say to not put them right by the plants.

I would go for both. The amazon sword is a HUGE root feeder and will probably need a root tab all to it's self. Root tabs feed the roots obviously, and the liquid ferts help plants that feed directly from the water column. Using both insures that the plants are getting what they need.

Sunshine: a yellow veiltail. Moonshine: a crazy mix of blue, black, purple, and copper deltatail. Clark: a red and blue feathertail. And Jack: my dream betta, a solid white EE plakat.

With just sand yes you will need root tabs. Like coreyh said, swords need root tabs. I have a dirted tank but still got a tab under my sword.

4 gallon SpongeBob kit turned into a full time hobby.

Thanks for replies :)
Mostly I was concerned tabs wouldn't work as intended in sand, being more finely packed than dirt or gravel, but I have since learned that it's fine.
