Potted Plants

Hey everybody,

I've seen some great photos of people who pot their aquatic plants within the aquarium and I think it looks great! I'm thinking about doing that myself using a coffee mug and maybe a couple of shot glasses.

Are shot glasses going to be big enough? Will the plant send out runners or will the roots grow out?

Thanks!

I'd bet that it's just like houseplants, the bigger they get, the bigger their pot will need to be. You could probably start out smaller, and then work up to bigger as they increase in size.

As for the runners...I'd assume that they'd still send them out...don't know why they wouldn't? With my plants the runners are coming either out the top of the plant or from the sides near the rootbase, but they're not underground or gravel, so they're easy to pinch off and plant on their own once they have enough roots to sustain themselves.

That makes sense! And at least with shot glasses I can see if the roots get too bunched up. Thanks Blue Fish! You're a great help! [=
