I been saving pictures of my planted tank through it's growth, taking a picture about once every two weeks. I don't know how many people are interested in this type of thing but if there is interest.. I can go through what happened during each picture. Also you will notice 2 different bettas in the pictures. Grover and Casper switch tanks every month or so for simulation of new environments to explore. I dunno if they will upload in order but the file names are 1-11.

Anyways Enjoy!

Great post!

I can see what plants might have not grown well or you didn't like much and replaced with different plants. I'm never a photo person to do things like that.

I see a bonze colored plant thriving in the current setting. Is that Crypto Wendtii Red?

Crypto Wendtii brown, I believe it is.. It was labeled Wendtii green when I got it.

This is awesome. Its interesting to see the start of the tank to its current stage. My ten gallon feels like its still in the beginning stages, even though I've planted three months ago ^^". Is it a 20 gallon tank?

Also noticed the driftwood. Do you have any issues of cleaning algae in that corner?

Yep, 20 gallon. To think a little over 6 months ago it had been sitting outside for years and was full of leaves and spiders.. My tank still feels like it has a lot of room for improvement but I'm still happy with it. Baby steps I keep telling myself.

My bladder snails do a great job keeping everything clean mostly, I'm having a bit of an algae issue now that I switched ferts. I'm trying to dial it in but it's probably going to take another month before I'll know for sure if I have it dialed in correctly.

When I plant plant that needs a good root system; I'll plant a root tab under them to give them a boost. But generally no dry ferts. My tank is mostly grows on good lights and liquid ferts. Crypto are great plants, they just take forever to grow and need a bit of light, but once they grow they are beautiful.

Oh and my tap water is a bit weird too, it has a ph of 8.4 some times 8.7 and a very high Kh and Gh to go with it. So it's got a lot of dissolved stuff for my plants, but is way to dangerous to just add during a water change. I mix my tap and off the shelf spring water and well I don't know if it helps my plants a whole lot, my snails get all the dissolved calcium they need to thrive and keep algae down.

Your Crypto is truly a beauty. I'm really considering getting Wendtii red or brown. I have Crypto Balansae. It's also a wonderful plant.

Sorry to hear that your tap water is a bit weird. I heard some people have peat moss in the filter to lower the pH. Maybe you should try a cichlid tank someday. Your tap water parameters sound perfect for them :)

I got a cichlid tank already for that very reason. They love that water and it's so easy to clean their tank because I don't have to mix water, just straight from the tap with some water conditioner and they are happy and healthy.

I like Balansae, I probably would of added to the tank if I found it in my area, that and monte carlo. Those two plants I'm on the hunt for, or until I break down and just order online...

If you do get wendtii red, you gotta show me some pictures of it after it starts thriving.

Cichids are beautiful!

You definitely should get MC and Balansae. I got my MC mat online. Since it was already planted in the mat, all I had to do was to place on the substrate. It's been a week and it is doing well in my no CO2 tank.

Yes, I will show you pictures if I get w.red and when it thrives.
