Frustrated and starting over completely

So after losing my girl Julia to a mystery sickness that ended with dropsy; successfully killing a nerite snail (that I was warned was half dead when I bought it) by body segmentation; losing a full crop of Cardinal plants; and half killing an Amazon sword I have had and taken care of for about three years; I am completely fed up with everything in my ten gallon tank.
So I took out all the plants. I rinsed the filter out with tap water, effectively killing whatever may or may not have been successfully growing there. Then I did a 100% water change and filled the tank with untreated tap water at 100 degrees Fahrenheit after siphoning through the gravel and taking out everything I could get to turn up.
I am forcing a hard reset and it's going to run like this for a few days until I can handle even looking at the tank. My sword and staurogyne repens are in a bottle of water on my desk while I handle the tank.
I am just incredibly upset, and worst of all, I don't know what I'm doing differently that has made this tank such a disaster.

Honestly some tanks are just cursed. Many people will agree that there's that one awful tank you have at some point that is an absolute disaster no matter what you try. I had a 10 gallon that found a way to kill everything I put in it. I finally tossed it and I haven't had problems with a single tank since, including the few survivors of the cursed tank.
