A twenty? Oh boy, now you can buy 10 more to put in the twenty with the others! LOL! Only if they get along though. I just took a few out for pictures from two 20 gallon sororities with a hundred or so in each. Their fins all look good and no fighting to speak of. I bet if I mixed the two together it would be a fin fest. I can just see the scales flying!

Yes, PP can be used as a medication, especially for topical problems. It is often swabbed directly onto wounds and ulcers. I'll send you a link to some great info.

I'm glad the Jungle Clear worked. I may need to use it soon. I'm thinking of just getting rid of all the leopard ramshorns. Their shells are brittle and they're so small. They never grow. :/ The pink pearl ramshorns I have are twice their size. I dunno. Snails. I'll just have to dose the tub and run because I don't wanna see the convulsions.

I thought I sent a White Snow Dragon but it looks like it colored up. The top two are Red Dragons and tghe third one is a Fire Dragon. The Fire Dragon females don't show the thicker scaling of the others or their male counterparts. It will be extremely hard to get a good pictutre of the Purple girl that actually shows her dark Purple coloring. I know, I've been trying for 4 years. I have a halogen light above and to the side of their photo chamber now and that seems to be the best light source and angle for me so far.

Does he actually literally stand on his tail or nose, down on the bottom of the tank? It's not quite so bad if they're vertical in midwater but when they just stand on their tails leaning on the side of the tank, it's bad.

Oh hurray for the loaches! That's awesome! Can you post the video somewhere?

As the internal organs start to shut down, the ability to regulate the swimbladder is either compromised and/or fluid buildup causes the swimbladder to compress so it doesn't work (something like that anyway). Either way, when a fish loses the ability to stay horizontal, it's a very bad sign.

Color temp or kelvin from 5000k-7500k with 6500k being ideal-it is closest to the color temp of the natural sun. This is what help plants photosynthesis-provide the energy for growth.

I'm not all that familiar with plecos either. But from what I've seen with other suckermouth fish, it's possible the gilling is related to their suctioning food from surfaces or suctioning onto the glass. My otos seem to have heavy gilling when they're stuck to the glass. I do know that because they're nocturnal, it's normal for them to be really skittery under light.

He may not be a common pleco then. He looks like he could be a bristlenose or even some sort of peckolita. Plecos are armored catfish so their scales are thicker. That may be why it looks like his scales were pineconing a little. Many plecos (not all but many) are incredibly hardy in regards to their water conditions and they are able to withstand temp and water parameter fluctuations better than fish like fancy-bred bettas. If he could survive in his previous conditions, he probably won't be affected by the temp fluctuation. :)

Do you know where your brother got the pleco? If he got it at Petsmart or Petco, then it likely is a common pleco and has a potential max length of a foot or more. They really only sell commons, sailfin, albino bristlenoses, and rubberlips. If he got it at a local fish store that specializes in fish, then it could be almost any kind of pleco with a max length of anywhere from 4" to 24". Offhand, it looks like it could be a bristlenose or a common.

I have a heater like that, an Elite 25w. If I'm not careful, it'll do the same thing, hahah, just shoot up there in temp.

Hey, have you dealt with velvet before? Please check the thread asking about it. I'm pretty sure it's velvet.

:( That's too bad. You can always QT the plants without anything until Walmart gets the Clear Water back in. Otherwise, before you put the plants in, go over them and pick off any snails you find and look for egg sacs.
