I have been to a couple different forums, one has a photo gallery of plant deficiency symptoms which is really helpful. I have eco-complete substrate in my 29 gallon and that is supposed to provide some ferts, it's been up and running about a month and all my plants have amazing growth so far. I swear my Amazon sword gets a new leaf every day, lol. The only thing I've noticed is the ends of my vals have been turning yellow, even though they've sent out a ton of runners. I will definitely do more research on other forums, I haven't joined any yet but reading has helped a lot. Good to know it's trial and error, too, as long as I don't overdose! Haha. Thanks :)

Sending you a message here so not to hijack your tank thread, lol. How would I know what is right for my plants in terms of ferts? I'm a planted tank newbie. Also, I noticed you have anubais. My anubais that I bought attached to driftwood at Petco has a couple yellowing leaves with holes in them - I'm pretty sure it was like that when I bought it but it is getting worse. Should I remove those leaves? The other leaves look okay right now...Thanks!

Cool! I might have to get one for my next 5.5 gal betta-only tank. As long as it takes care of the bioload lol. But do you think the max flow on this would bother a long finned boy?

Oh okay. I see your tank is planted...do you think that filter would get the job done on a non-planted 5.5? And how do bio balls work? Oh, and with the flow turned up all the way do you think it would bother a long finned betta?

Nope, sorry. I've given them all away to friends and family except for that one from the first Dumbo spawn and the four from the second Dumbo Spawn. Dumbos are very popular right now and mine were all gone within a week. But hey, keep an eye out because I will be breeding my second generation of Dumbo in a few months for color improvements since the form, I think, is already decent. I might be able to give you some if all goes well with the breeding.

Yeah i was thinking a couple of months. Im not in a hurry to add them to the tank. I figured without a fish in there the disease would be gone in a couple of months

Hey so i have a question. My friend's betta just died and from the look of it. seems like it was dropsy that did it :( I bought her some plants about three weeks ago to put in her tank and she qt for about two weeks so I dont think it could have been the plants they were in his tank for about a week. Anyway she gave the plants back to me and I'm qt them since they were in a tank with a sick fish. Do you think they will be safe for my tank?

No I don't have a filter or anything in there. Yeah I figure my plants will do a lot better in a cycled tank with a better light

Yeah Idk why but mine were doing super good the water lettuce roots were getting so long then everything started dying. My hornwort and then the water lettuce started browning. Right now I just have java fern and java moss since they require low light. Eventually I want to upgrade my HMPK to a ten gallon and possibly do a NPT

No I was super upset. I really wanted them to replicate faster so I put them outside with a clear lid so that the natural sunlight would give me more duckweed and my dog still don't know how she got to them and how she managed to get past the lid... ate them all I was super bummed because I loved the water lettuce :(

Thank you! Besides sand, what substrate do you recommend? I have Seachem Flourish liquid and tabs already. The plants I'll have will probably be easy ones: anubias, etc. Thank you again!

I do suggest to prepare tour emmerse terrarium plants before hand. you can grow moss in a small take out box. and later on it will just be a matter of moving the carpet into the terrarrium

i wanr an exo terra when i get out of here. I really want one for a betta :)
