... Maybe I don't keep the water to mature long enough. Well, since this is my first attempt, I recognize that I've learned a lot. And I'm passionate about it. I look forward to get a rosetail female sometimes in spring. My male is a rosetail and the females are veiltail I guess. At the pet stores I've found around here they don't even know that the females are different too. All they know is that they're less colored and less attractive than the males.
So, for now, I guess my problem is solved and I won't lose any as they grow bigger. Thank you again for your advice and time! :)
See you on bettasource! And have nice winter holidays!

... So now I've stopped changing the water. I have a charcoal filter and a bubble stone in that tank, along with plants, of course, and since I went back to the old habits no one got sick. The thing is I only noticed the big and the medium ones because it's impossible to keep track for the tiny. What I'm saying is that maybe it's not only the pack leaders dying as they reach certain size. Maybe I've lost tiny ones without knowing. And no, I haven't noticed velvet or ick on none of them. I also treated the whole tank with methylene blue on 6-th December and skipped water change until yesterday. As the blue coloration became to fade, the water became cloudy, and I changed 30%, but now it's more and more clear and the babies seem great again... ( I wrote a too long message and now I'm splitting it to fit in here)

Thank you very much for taking the time to answer. I've just noticed today. I wasn't alerted on my email about these messages so, sorry for such late follow-up. I will check your website (if I haven't done it already without being aware of it). About my problem: it occurred to me - since the more frequent water changes were the only thing different than what I used to do before they began to die one by one - that maybe that's the problem in my case. I had no experience whatsoever in breeding Bettas and it just happened. I did my best with what I had available as the fry developed and I managed to have 60 two-months-olders when I moved them in the bigger tank. And even after that, everything went super, until I read about the stunning growth hormone that they release, and began water changes every other day. Soon after that they began to die one by one... (to be continued)...

    Hello Sharon,
I was referred to you by lilnaugrim. I wonder if you can teach me what to do about my Betta babies. They are now almost 3 months old. One week ago, the biggest of them died. He seemed not to be able to hold straight swimming position. Two days later another one's tail looked like she couldn't spread it normally. Ended up looking like glued. I put her in a small "hospital", with clean matured water, salted, heated and with ContraIck from Tetra, as I already suspected Costia disease. She died. But today another big one shows signs of fatigue, swimming tilted, resting on plants. I suspect that when I change the water (every other day) the temperature of the newly added water is much lower and that stresses the fish. Is it possible they have some other disease? What should I do? I'm scared and afraid that if I don't figure this out they are going to dye one by one every other day.
Please, if you can find the time, give me advice/useful links... anything.

Hello BB. I have a sorority in a 20G. Only 6 females so far.. I was browsing through AB and saw this blue marble female of yours. When I told my dad about it, the auction closed. :( Is she still with you? In case you're wondering of her possibly found home, it's cycled and heated to 76-77. 4 albino cories and 2 mystery snails as tank mates. It's still a maybe though, I still have to discuss shipping prices with him. Thanks.

I was referred to you by Dramaqueen and Lebronthebetta. I am looking for a local betta male to buy in the next month or sometime in the spring. I would love to have a baby or one that is a few months old. I live in Plano, TX.

Okay, I'll probably start with marbles then. A breeder on this site recommended deli cups as well, so I'm already looking for a good deal at amazon or craigslist. I'll go to your FB page soon. ~LTB

Hello BB. :) I'm *probably* going to be a breeder in a few years or so, I'm already thinking about the fry's future, jars, proper stock, needed supplies, grow out tanks, etc. I really want to get my pair from an US breeder and that certainly might be you. :D Soo, do you have any expected lines in 2-4 years or so? I'm really interested in butterflies or black orchids. But if I join the IBC, I could get a free pair. But I can't choose. Even if they have great form... Could you also give me a link of your current Bettas for sale? :) Sorry if I'm a bother, I just really want to be prepared and learn from another experienced breeder. ~LTB
