To any who may have been wondering what happened to me: There have been quite a lot of bills due to hospitals and other personal thing that came upon me and my family suddenly. Betta breeding has still been placed on hold due to this. My bettas in my profile are all still doing quite well, save poor Spirit passed away for unknown reasons. My baby betta needs new pictures since he is all grown up now but is quite attractive for having been an "unknown". With luck and prayers those in my family who are sick will recover and get better. Hopefully I will be back soon.

I am now a member of the International Betta Congress! (Pending the processing time of 3 business days.)

Due to neither myself, or my friend having much experience with paypal he is actually the applicant lol! But that should be cleared up in the next few days.

He doesn't really care for bettas and doesn't own any. I was joking with him that I would show my fish and win a plaque and it would have his name on it. He said he would hang it right over his bed with all the ribbons "he" would win from all my work! ;) LOL!

The IBC responded very quickly and took care of everything with no problems whatsoever. The membership is properly in my name now as of Tuesday June 26th, 2012.

    Java moss (Vesicularia Dubyana):

I find this plant to probably be the most magical plant for bettas.

It's easy to care for, it's a great first live plant to buy if you are thinking of getting live plants for your tank. You buy it, you quarantine it for a few weeks, and you toss it in your tank. (Please follow steps to quarantine any plants you get properly per plant.)

I preach about the wonders of Java moss since I had great success with it, it looks great in a tank, its wonderful for breeding so it's useful down the road if you decide to breed.

The most magical thing about java moss is that it reduces nitrates in your tank. To see the study please google "Bettatalk java moss", (without the quotes lol) it will come up with the study she did. This study is often recopied on other sites. The only thing I STRONGLY DISAGREE with on the site is she says to discard any extra moss if you find it is growing out of control in your tank. Save, sell, or trade extra healthy clumps.

I always write about the temperature in my fish room being a certain temp. I just wanted to clarify that I have a thermometer inside my room. (Like one you would use to gauge the temp outside.) When I ask people about the temperature of the room their fish are in I assume people are actually taking a reading from a thermometer directly inside their room, near where their fish is kept.

To expand on this, a house or apartment, room by room, can be many different temperatures. This is true in different places inside a room if the temperature is taken by a window, a heat/ cooling vent, or a door. If you are taking a temperature from the household thermostat, this temp is only true for the room, and the area that the thermostat is reading to regulate when the heater or cooler kicks on in the house.

A thermometer inside your betta tank is a good investment of less then $5. This little item will give you peace of mind, and let you know for sure if your betta tank is too cold, or too warm.

Please don't leave new visitor messages here. Responding is O.K but I will delete any new visitor messages left in my profile.

This is nothing personal but it makes me feel bad when I have to delete messages, since they stay there and the moderators said they are unable to delete what remains of what was there.

Please don't make me sad. :(

Responding won't hurt anything however! The main message should remain on top where it is still easy to access and I won't need to delete anything!! :)

I hope the information on this page can help someone!!!

My goal for this section of the forum is to use it as a place I can post updates, or information in a place that is easy to access.

I decided to make a thread where I could jot things down in within the Journal section of the forum.

Link: just add the w w w dot bettafish dot com/ to this in browser.
