While I would Love to have an Axolotl, I would never ask you to do something illegal, even though I think that particular law doesn't make much sense to me. Oh well, maybe next time.

Do you think 40 degrees will be ok? I read on another site that the water should not go below 60 so I wasn't sure. I can't believe they go in the fridge!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I will definitely consider one of your babies but don't hold anything yet:)!

Another question: What is the coldest temp they can be kept at? I was thinking about putting them in my basement(don't worry, we go down there all the time and it is finished and cozy so I will not forget about them) because no other part of my house is ever below 70 degrees (except the winter) so the basement is my only choice. Another thing is: you they require a certain about of light? My basement is dark and only lit for about 1-2 hours a day (which is the time that we play down there) so the tank won't be getting a whole lot of light.

    thanks!

Thanks! What kind of fish do they eat? They stay in the water for their whole life, right? Sorry for so many questions, I just never want to buy a pet on impulse again :)

Ok so this is the supplies that they will need. Tell me if I missed something.

-axolotl I would like to get a male. Where would be the best place to get him?
-ten gallon I read on some sites that you only have to fill the water so that it is over his head but on other sites that you should fill it all the way. Which is better?
    -homemade mesh lid
    -thermomater
-a few plastic plants and a large terra-cotta pot as his hiding place. I'm not going to put gravel
-Filter. Should I get one meant for a smaller tank so that my axolotl does not get sucked up?
-Food. I'm going to feed him axolotl pellets. What is the best kind and where can I find it?

    Anything else?
    Thanks!
