    Hello DarkMoon,

I recently read a post of yours from 2011 where you claimed 2 have 3 females and 1 male betta all living together. You claimed there were some standoffs and all is well now. I am about to embark on this same endeavor and was wondering how much aggression is normal until they establish harmony. I believe the females I ordered are sisters, so am hoping the hierarchy has already been established. What should I look out for and what is normal - between the girls and then towards or from the male. I would appreciate if you could give me some advice. Thanks and hopefully you still keep up with these threads.

    Hi
Thanks for posting so much good information about betta fishes.I am new at this and still have hard time diagnosing. I had a betta fish doing ggod for five months but after adding a dwarf frog to the tank my betta fish died in two days. Idon't know where I went wrong but I went ahead and washed everything with soap replaced the plants and got a new fish. I now realize I should have wash the tank with vinegar but it's too late. The new fish I got looked like he was struggling so I figured I could try saving him. His water was very dirty. He is now very active but he still has dark spots and sometimes he does seem to be rubbing against the side of the tank and on the floor. Also his tail is not even almost like its rottening. Today, after the third day of purchasing him I decided to put him in a small bowl and start treatment. But I an not sure what he has.

Hello there. I was wondering if you have ever heard of a successful treatment for a tumor. My betta has a big swollen lump on one side of her body and it looks internal. I've tried kanaplex with epsom salt and IAL with no success. She is pooping normally and doesn't have raised scales. Any help you can give would be appreciated!

Hello, i'm treating my betta for dropsy per your noncoservative method. i'm using marcyn plus with 100% tank changes daily. My question is everyday changes? On the bottle it says 1,3 and 5 day. Also put in aquarium salt the fisrt two days will this worsen his condition? Please help, I trust you and hve recommended your list of diseases & treatments to many with questions. Just needed alittle clarification on instructions. Thank you, Sherrie

Hi, yesterday I brought a sample of Ivory's water to a pet store to be tested. Apparently, it was a little high in ammonia (I think about 1 or 1.5. I have a test strip, but it doesn't test for ammonia. I normally change half his 2.5 gallon tank every 7 days. I know ammonia can harm him. Should I be concerned?

Darkmoon, I got a male beta about 4 months ago. I thought when a fish pooped, it was stringy, but his is round, he, for some reason, does his biggest poop every 6 days, when I cup him. He doesn't appear to be stressed when I'm cleaning his tank. The only time I notice he has a large bm (at least twice his usual size) is when he is cupped. Should I be concerned?

Hi darkmoon. I have a question about water changes. I have a male beta in a 2.5 gallon heated and filtered tank. How often and what percentage of water shoul I change? I tried looking in the forums, even the faq, but I can't find any answers. Someone told me several months ago to change 50 and 100 every 4 days, someone else told me 25 and 50. What do you suggest? I believe Sakura told me the 50 and 100.

Hi all, sorry for my along absence. My senior year at college required me to cut down on some of the things I love (like this site) and I will be going to Vet School this fall so I can't imagine having time to frequent BettaFish.com. I am very sorry that I haven't had time to check messages here. If you have any questions or concerns please email me at my school address: alogy5@mail. missouri. edu Just remove the spaces. I check emails daily!

I will be cleaning Jewel's tank tomorrow. Usually I use a bit of vinegar, should I be using the aquarium salts I just bought instead of the vinegar?

Darkmoon, your pm box is full.
Last night, I reduced Jewel's water level by half, unplugged her heater and left the glass top off over night. This morning she is back to her usual self. I haven't fed her yet, but still plan on getting some epsom salts.

I just found out that Jewel (my female beta) has swim bladder. The pet store told me to feed her peas, but before I thawed them, I found your site about diseases. Now I'll get some epsom salts tomorrow and hopefully, my bro-in-law can find some NLS or omega one. How long should I fast her for?

Is it feasibly possible to like . . . pull the poo from him with tweezers? A tiny bit is sticking out but it's just not passing, even after a 3rd dose of mineral oil. And should I attempt to feed him frozen daphnia? I haven't given him any food since this started but I'm at a loss of how to help him get rid of this blockage.
