Hey guess what? I went over to My fiance's mothers house and their betta has fin rot and a split tail. They won't listen to me about it though, no one thinks I know much, so I don't waste my breath. I did the female man minipulation thing and came home and complained to him. He is going over there after work today to look at the fish and try to talk them out of him. or tell them what they need to do. They should listen to him. Haha! I enjoy being a girl.

Actually, I have been checking out some fake ones but I am still stuck on the real plants throughout. When I do the real plants whats the best one to start with and best strategy/care.

I don't know. My last tetra dissapeared this morning and my three mollies are the only suspicious ones. I have never had a problem with them before either but an online care sheets suggests I may have got two males which could cause it. Shouldn't have trusted the pet store. I just posted the new sorority setup in my albums. I see harmony now for everyone so far but we will see. The corys have already taken over one cup.

Nope, not in the sorority. I don't like to put fish with bettas that will get in the way. I have two cory's and two oto's with the girls for cleaning purposes. And I just love watching a chubby little cory swim around. I have a community tank with a variety of fish. I have been researching and I am suspecting the mollies.

Oh! I redid the girls and I am only seeing stress lines on one so far. They seem much happier with their new setup, I will post pics of the re-re-release soon. Also, one of my girls had that double red line on each gill when I got her and its going away already since the release. Sad about my tetra's in my other tank though. I think I have a tetra muncher and I can't figure out who it is.

Yea I hate that I live in a small place. When we move I need a big house. I literally would have to start lining them up on the floor and I have to think about my other fishies too. :(

Just the other day I had to resist a pitiful little guy with no fins at jacks aquarium. The store worker says "we take good care of our bettas" I'm thinking.... exhibit A is on your shelf dude. They take great care of all their other fish. I will never understand why bettas are neglected so much.

I will eventually get better quality plant life going. I am contimplating real plants soon but for now its the cheap fabrics. Its so depressing when you miss little things like that but I caught it now so they will be fine. Its actually a cuter more natural looking setup. P.s. I have the betta bug now to and the bug makes me want the most pitiful.

..... yea empty ten gallon, wonder how long... :0 Sorry about wildfire she sure was unique. I found the ten gallon tank, net, hood and lights for five dollars. Fiance rolled his eyes. i figured out what happened with the girls fins, wasnt patty wasn't filter. It was a cave I had and a plant that I didn't think was sharp enough to hurt them.

I must have read your mind cuz I just did that. yea I have noticed. I have two (wanda and rose) who are mortal enemys. They there is margaret and Maudie who are buds. Shirley likes to go around and be friends with everybody and patty is kind of the momma (makes sure everybodys behaving. And my little weirdo of the tank is Alice. She likes to hang out in the bubbles all day. My theme for these guys are my great aunts. haha they probly would get mad but I see it as a compliment.

This forum helps me figure out what I have done good and what I need corrected on which is nice. Oh, Charlie is doing great too. He is still skiddish but is adjusting nicely. He didn't know what to do when he tasted his first actual blood worm. He kept looking at the feed hole for more. The girls ate them like pirahna.

I should have done that. I wasn't even thinking about it, everybody is being treated for torn fins since Patty was missing them anyways when I bought her. Everybody should have some decent healthy fins soon. She calmed down and I see more harmony. No really, the only tude I see right now is between two of the new girls. I should have introduced them little better. :( I sometimes think Patty was one of those miserables that got thrown in with another fish for fun. she was missing almost her entire dorsel, Anal fin was gone except for a sliver. She is growing her fins back already though and I think she is going to end up with a neat little tail. color has turned into an orange/pink. Patty's the boss. She is keeping everyone in order now and I saw what looked like her break up a fight between the new girls. I never knew there was such a heirarchy in a betta's world. I am still learning though. I never claim to be a pro. hehe.

I forgot to answer your question about the release. I left the new girls in the cups for twenty minutes so the old girls could investigate them a little and the release went well. Until Patty picked at a new gal that already had a hole in her fin. I ended up baffling the filter because after Patty and a filter blast her fin is rags now. I may end up putting that on in the hospitol tank so no one nips them off til they get better. Margaret is the emotional one and was showing stress lines but she seems to be relaxing. I am watching them like a hawk for a bit to see reactions for now.

Thanks for all the comments on my babys, er, I mean betta's. I started out with miserable little guy from walmart happily named fishy (steel blue veil tale) and after he died after 3 months because of his miserable conditions I have been hooked on them. He was picked up in nasty water (of course) and I think what got him was his stiff fin. I could never get him healed from that. He also had gill issues. But he had a nice three months remaining. My second boy was red and I have had him for 6 months or so and after that they friggin exploded.
