Sorry about Ms Marbles, and sorry about the late reply, I haven't been active lately. At least you have a bunch of Ms. Marbles Jr's. I beleive my crayfish either have eggs or recently molted, as I have not seen any of them out in over a month (though I do see their feelers sticking out of their PVC pipes. Any Idea how many babies you have?

Those crustacean/ vegetable flakes sound good. Crayfish aren't very picky, the most important part of feeding is mantaining the balance between nutrients. These crayfish like 60% plant matter and 40% meat. They also love anacharis as a treat!

I received the two betta from Michelle today, and I have to say that I'm very happy that i choose to take the replacement, he looks even better in person. And the yellow HM female that she sent me as an apology is very pretty as well. Im pretty sure that i'll do business with her again in the future. As soon as I get them acclimated and taken care of I'll post pictures of them : )

Hoe big are your algea tabs? I would feed 1 twice a day, plus some flakes. See how much they eat, and if they eat it all in less than 15 min. add some more.

I would still feed the algea tabs, these crayfish need more plant matter then meat, and most flakes are meat based. I would put the algea tabs and a few flakes. Maybe crush the algea tab up a bit so there are lots of pieces for the babies. How many babies do you think you have? Oh, and they usually don't overfeed themselves, but any leftover food would foul the water. I feed them a lot, but the corydoras eat the leftovers. And anyway, these guys are scavengers, so they are used to not always stuffing themselves

I'll try to get pics of the new cray tank once I get it set up. Right now it only has sand and partially buried PVC pipes. I'll get pics when it is set up.

Nice job on the babies! They will spend a lot of time on or by their mother. Mine enjoy sitting under my driftwood with only their feelers out, and if they feel something they grab it! Also, today I am setting up a 30 gallon for my crays so I can get a colony going, I just need to buy some PVC pipe!

My crayfish stuff things in their cave too! I often find old plant leaves (that they like eating!), and old algea wafers that they didn't eat. Some crayfish "add on" to their home cave by dragging decorations on to and into it. If you have large rocks she may close the entrance to her cave when molting, or she may use them to make the entrance smaller so she feels more protected.

Hello! How is your crayfish doing? Did your crayfish have any babies? Mine that lost a claw molted, so now he has one big claw, and one little claw.

One of my crayfish lost a claw in a fight! But, they won't kill each other. How is your cray doing protecting eggs? After the babies hatch they will stay close to mother and hide under her if scared!

Yes, I own one and so does my daughter-in-law. They are acrylic and no problems. Toss the plastic plants & the "rock" that come with it though (unless you have other fish that can use them). The plants are pretty hard & somebody told me they lost a betta to the rock when he tried to squeeze through one of the smaller holes in it & got stuck. :(

The filter it comes with is nice and it's adjustable. You might want to replace the light bulb since the one it comes with is incandescent, but that's up to you.

    Hope that helps!

Hey! I have a question for you.
I remember a while back you posted about that fish.com deal with their cheap 5 gallon tank kit. I might get another betta and was interested in getting another tank and looked at that one. Do you own one?
Im a little nervous because it says "plastic" and not acrylic...Ah! D:

    Thanks!

Well, I can't say for SURE she is carrying since I have not wanted to disturb her by picking her up and looking, but for what you have told me I am GUESSING she is carrying. :) Hoping to raise a few to give to friends & family with tanks, put some in some of my other tanks and - don't hate me - use them if there get to be too many as live food for some of my other fish.

She hasn't molted as of yet - as least I haven't found any evidence of it.

Good to know she will do her best to protect the babies from the guppies! :)

Sounds like yours are coming along great!!! TBH, I don't really care if Ms. Marbles gets a little nippy with the fish - I pretty much have guppies coming out of my ears!!! LOL!!

Thats great! She will protect the babies from guppies, though they may get some. What do you plan on doing with them? Mine are fine, they have molted several times, no eggs yet though. They get along fine with all my fish, although they do get a little nippy.
