Thank you - I gave him medicine for fin rot, about two weeks ago and didn't want to do another cycle of it because he does have some healing going on. I can try the forum. I only want to hear from moderators though really.

I use Omega One Betta buffet with frozen bloodworms as treats. To be honest, I'm a little worried about the holes in your guy's fins. I think that may be a different problem. I think it would be a good idea to post the problem in the Disease and Emergency part of the forum and fill out the chart for the experts.

There's a chance that the holes are fin rot that's starting at the base of the fin and not the edge. Filling out the chart and posting a picture in the disease section will hopefully get more skilled help.

It won't let me put the url's on here for you. In the disease section, there's a sticky about answer these questions (it has everything you've told me but in a list/chart format for people to read more easily) and another sticky about what some of the diseases look like.

Hello, thank you for responding. I have a Fluval Chi 5 gallon tank, it came with a filter that is like a waterfall, but it doesn't seem too strong. I have a sponge on my intake too though. I am going to keep him in his gallon bowl for a while and do 50% water changes each day, and try to be patient. I quit with the aquarium salt and am just using stress coat. I can see that he is slowly healing, but he has a couple holes near his body on his tail that seem to be growing. I have my fingers crossed that they do not tear all the way down. What kind of food do you use?

Mr. Fish never had holes in his fins. His fins are recovering from his fin biting, but he still bites his fins from time to time. Warm, clean water and good food are what I'm continuing to treat him with. Since he's a chronic fin biter, I don't want to keep medicine in there all the time. He marbled at the same time he started fin biting and is now piebald with green all over except the tips of his fins. My profile picture is an old picture from before his fin biting.

Usually, fin biting leaves a little "U" shaped place on the ends of the fins. If your guy has holes in it, there might be a different problem. How does your filter work? Mine has big holes where it sucks the water in, and I had to cover those holes with a sponge. I've heard of filter intakes causing holes and tears in betta fins if they rest against it. I suppose it could also be some kind of infection from fin biting (if he started doing it again).

I hope that helps. I hope your guy recovers!

Hello - Did Mr. Fish recover from his biting episode? I was looking at his pictures, and it looks like he did and has changed colors quite a bit? I ask because I am having problems with my betta - he is also a marble. He was almost white, then mostly turquoise/blue and now it looks like he is going back to mostly white. So crazy. I have him in a 5 gallon heated filtered tank, a fluval chi, which I was worried had too strong of a filter current, but I have a hard time thinking that is really the deal. He bit his tail in early June, and healed a bit, then bit more and then started to get pin holes in his fins, that developed into tears. I am trying a hospital 1 gallon bowl with Stress Coat to treat the water as usual, Betta Revive, some Aquarium salt, a heater and a bubbler. I'm crossing my fingers. Did any of the tears in your guy's tail start as little holes, or did they just show up as torn like that? I appreciate any help.

    Thank you,
