I am wondering about the different types of Betta that you see in the LFS. Sometimes they are called Super Delta, Half Moon, Butterfly, etc. Someone told me that the names are based on show standards but I have not been able to find very much reliable information about the exact differences. Any suggestions?
there is a whole other section of this forum dedicated directly to bettas that are very helpful! but yes each of those are only different with what the tail looks like
right... the tail... but what exactly are the definitions of the different types of tails.... I am really looking for more in-depth answers. Maybe there is a master betta keeper around this site????
Ok what you said was the betta tail types of betta splendens.
The tail types are:
Veil tail: natural mutation of shrot finned bettas
Delta tail: a spread of 120-170 gegrees. looks like a triangle
Halfmoon: A spread of 180-220, looks like a half circle
crowntail: a delta spread with fringes on the end
halfsun: mix of halfmoon and crowntail.
spade tail: common in female veil tails/veil tails who haven't grown full finnage yet.
