I just moved one of my bettas to a 4 gallon heated tank. YAY! I'm letting the heater acclimate like I was told to and so I'll give it 15, 20 minutes then I'll turn it on. Jaden seems to be doing ok in it so far and is exploring his new home. I sure hope he likes it and that the heater does ok.
I got a "No Fishing!" sign to put in his tank. lol Another forum member had one hat said "Only cool fish allowed" or something like that but I couldn't find one. The light on the tank was working and now its not. Bummer, but oh well, he seems to like the tank.
move the bulb around alittle and see if it turns on, sometimes when they are off just a bit they wont work. if that doesnt do the trick, look towards the ends of the bulb, if they look black/greyish that usually indicates the bulbs shot or atleast going. even if you replace the bulb and it doesnt work you may need to replace the starter (if your light fixture has one) its a little white cylinder like thing in the light fixture and you can pick one up at a hardware store for a couple bucks.
Onefish, the bulb goes into a white rubber cylinder thing. I tried 2 different lights besides the original one that was in there. I'll keep fooling with it. Thanks.
I got 3 bulbs with the tank and one was broken. One is blue and the other one is a regular bulb. I have the blue one in for now. I'd like to leave the tank light on when I'm gone, if its going to be dark after I get home. I guess it will be ok?
Jaden seems to like his new tank. He's been very active and has even blown a small bubblenest in a cornerof the tank. yay! I got my new digital thermometer. I don't know how good its working though. The temp seems to fluctuate a bit. I think I need to put the sensor a little deeper and maybe a bit closer to the heater.
ok, thanks. The heater is in the back and the thermometer is in the front. My heater seemed to be not working tonight but I unplugged it and plugged it back in and I'll see what happens. Just what I need is for my new heater to go bad. ugh!
the standard old glass ones you find hard to read should be $2-3 at your LFS. granted they take alittle more time to see what your temp. is at but once you pretty much get your heater set you dont really have to look at the thermometer very often- just another option.
I know they probably are better than digital but they are so darn hard for me to read. lol The thermometer may not be working very well. It seems to be fluctuating.
I DID see a Coralife and remembered that you said not to get that brand. lol
