Tail Biter or Ripped Fins?

Hey!
So my handsome man, Dragonfly, is rather eating himself or has managed to rip his fins. No idea what to do! Help? :-(

Housing
What size is your tank? 5 Gal, Fluval Chi
What temperature is your tank? 80F
Does your tank have a filter? Yes
Does your tank have an air stone or other type of aeration? No
Is your tank heated? Yes
What tank mates does your betta fish live with? None

Food
What type of food do you feed your betta fish? Omega One Betta Buffet pellets
How often do you feed your betta fish? 2 times a day, fast once a week

Maintenance

How often do you perform a water change? Once a week
What percentage of the water do you change when you perform a water change? 25% once a week, and 50-75% once a month or sooner
What type of additives do you add to the water when you perform a water change? Water conditioner

Water Parameters:
Have you tested your water? If so, what are the following parameters?

Nitrite:
Nitrate:
pH:
Hardness:
Alkalinity:

Symptoms and Treatment
How has your betta fish's appearance changed? Ripped dorsal and tail fin
How has your betta fish's behavior changed? Not at all! Seems more active
When did you start noticing the symptoms? Notice his fins were ripped shortly before I moved him from 1.5 gal to the 5 gal
Have you started treating your fish? If so, how? None
Does your fish have any history of being ill? Nope
How old is your fish (approximately)? No idea! Only had him a month, got him from the pet store

I'm thinking he did it while in his Kritter Keeper. He had a rock bridge and a plastic plant! Pretty sure it was the plant :evil: Now that he's in his larger tank he doesn't ever go near the plants. I'll be taking them out soon, and getting some silk or live plants :)

Any tips on getting him to flare? I'd love to see his full tail!
