I have a large bowl for my betta; inside of which I put in this clear glass crackle ball, for effect...when I put in the stones, I didn't notice that the hole was now available for Mickey to swim in and out of. Now the hole is a good size, and it's not sharp...so for that he's ok. BTW, the crackle ball is about 4" in diameter.
My concern is he seems to "chase his tail" a lot ... in or out of the crackle ball...should I remove it, or do you think he enjoys his little hideaway?
It's just a glass ball that looks like it's got small cracks all thru it; hence the name "crackle ball"... do you think I should remove it, or just let it be?
Joe ..I think I would take it out and get something with smooth edges..I had a plastic plant in one of my Betta tanks and it had some sharp edges on it I kept noticing that his fins were getting ripped so I replaced it with a silk plant and that stopped the fin ripping problem..
the ball doesn't have any sharp edges...his fins are fine...they did get torn up with a plastic plant I had in a smaller bowl, but he's recovering from that nicely.
My concern is his going round and round "chasing his tail"... I don't know if the ball is contributing to that or not, since that's what he does inside there... it's really cool to watch him spin around in there and come in and out; but I just want to make sure it's not affecting his mental state...
If that's even possible to tell.
well, I guess it's good to know he's not alone with the tail chasing thing... so I'll just leave everything be for now...thanks!
