Hi! My name is Katie and I'm about to get my first betta fish ever.

It's technically going to be my first fish ever. I had fish as a young kid, but they were mostly goldfish that I won at my elementary school fairs. I got my first one when I was about 6, and it lived until I was 10. I fed it, but my dad did most of the cleaning and other stuff.

Dogs? I know all about dogs. Right now I have two dogs and two hedgehogs. I'm a dog trainer and a veterinary assistant. Dogs are my specialty. I've trained sheep herding and fly ball with my Corgi and now have a working line German Shepherd I train Schutzhund with. And as I said, I help other people train their dogs for a living. It's my passion and I wouldn't rather be doing anything else.

Bug fish? No, I don't know a darn thing about fish. Well, I didn't. About two years ago I was going to set up my first tank but some financial issues got in the way and I decided to wait. I have a very fish savvy friend who has successfully kept huge saltwater and freshwater tanks both. Through him and the interwebs I'm finally ready for my betta. I still have plenty of stupid questions, but I'm a lot more informed than I originally was!

Anyway, I'm so excited!!! I have my tank set up and should be getting my fishie friend sometime this week!

Hi Katie, welcome to the forum. Glad to have you aboard.

The only dumb question I can think of is the one you don't ask.

Hey there- another SoCal newbie! I just picked up two betta myself (blue female and a light orange male) and am currently working to learn how to make their tanks happy and safe. Hope you have fun with your little finned friend!
