Are Internal Filters safe for Betta's?

I just received a 10g set kit. It comes with a Tetra 10I internal filter. The filter has 2 suction cups which i was very iffy about but it sticks fine. Also, the wire is submersed in water which I don't like. I basically have to droop it over the side of the tank. So the filter is inside the tank. Is this safe?

I have been using a filter like that for 3 years. It is still running with no problems.

The back has 2 suction cups... and the wire is the power cord. But it runs on the bottom of the filter up the side of it and you have to hang it out of the tank.

yup I have that exact model. I don't really recommend it for a betta because it is nearly impossible to baffle and it has a strong flow, but if you use it for a tropical fish tank it works.

thats sad to hear as I asked for a 10g specifically for my betta he would get thrown around? I though a 10g would give enough room to calm the current

Yeah that filter is pretty strong and there is no flow control. and there is only a small lip that the water flows out from so it makes it hard to alter it to make the flow softer.

I use this for my Sorority and I just baffle the outflow with a piece of filter media.

The Fluval U1 is really good, but it does need to be baffled.
