Did I accidentally get sold a male?

I set up a sorority the other day with a female I got in the mail with my Aquabid boy and some Petco females. I specifically made sure to get all Veiltail females, and my receipt reflects that.

I noticed that there are two bubble nests in my sorority tank, whereas neither of my boys have even considered building a nest. The girls have been getting along wonderfully, though there is one for sure that is in charge. Some of my girls look a little plump. What's going on?

They get fed twice a day with pellets. Tank is heated to 80.

did you check the filter? that happens to me a lot, and some females strangely make bubble nest for no apparent reason

Those look like bubble nests to me, they are thick.

i've had a female who built bubble nests. best way to find out? get them in cups and have them flare. :B

A few of them have circled each other and flared at one another. I have the filter baffled, so I can't imagine it is making the bubbles.

it is possible that you have a young male, or a female that makes nest
